In a swift action, Madurai Railway Protection Force Personnel and Madurai Govt Railway Police Personnel nabbed one of the two minor boys who attacked a woman train manager with sickle and snatched her mobile phone, valuables, cash, and causing injury in Madurai on Monday. They also recovered the stolen mobile from his possession, says a Southern Railway release.
The incident took place on Monday evening when train manager Rakhi was bringing an empty passenger coaching special train from Salem to Tirunelveli. While the train was approaching Madurai Junction home signal in slow run, two outsiders entered the guard van and assaulted the Train Manager with sickle and snatched her mobile phone, debit cards and cash, the release said.
A special team of RPF and GPF nabbed one of the minors, while a search is underway to arrest the other. The team also recovered all the stolen articles within 24 hours of the incident
On getting information, Madurai Railway Protection Force Personnel and & Madurai Govt Railway Police Personnel swiftly swung into action and quickly arranged medical aid to the victim and admitted her at Railway Hospital/Madurai.
In this connection, GRP/Madurai has registered a case in Cr.No.64/2024 invoking deterrent sections of IPC viz. U/s 353, 394, 506(II) IPC. Efforts are in progress to arrest the second accomplice in this crime.
In order to prevent recurrence of such incidents, Regular drives will be conducted against such unsocial elements loitering in and around Railway Station/System by joint teams of RPF/Rly police at vulnerable locations, and Deployment of women RPF staff exclusively for the safety of lady commuters/women employees in Railway system will be made.
