The Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, on Thursday signed an MoU with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), world’s largest reserve police force, an official said.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the presence of RRU Vice-Chancellor Professor Bimal N Patel and CRP Director General Dr Sujoy Lal Thaosen, said a release by the Gandhinagar-based university.

”Under the MoU, the CRPF’s training programmes for its personnel would be recognised by RRU as diploma or degree courses. The varsity may prepare customized courses and training modules for CRPF personnel and also allow them to conduct research at the university,” said the release.

The MoU will allow exchange of ideas and thoughts between CRPF instructors and RRU faculty, and give a chance to jawans of the paramilitary force to learn subjects like forensic science, Information Technology, law and criminology etc, the release added.

On the occasion, Professor Patel highlighted that more than 12,000 persons from India and 48 foreign nations have benefitted through more than 150 training programmes offered by RRU.
The RRU is committed to provide high standard training with the best resource persons from across the globe with the support of ITEC-Ministry of External Affairs in order to make CRPF forces ahead-of-the-curve in anticipating, mitigating and eliminating internal security and order challenges, the release said.
Thaosen hailed the RRU for being able to provide specialised programmes for mental well-being as well as psychological endurance enhancement training to the forces, the release said.
Among other CAPFs and CPOs, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), National Security Guard (NSG), Border Security Force (BSF), Indo-Tibet Border Police (ITBP), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have functional cooperation covering all aspects of teaching, research, innovation and training with the RRU, the statement added..
