In a significant step towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR), Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) and Lakshadweep Police signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance law enforcement capacity, research, and training.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Administrator of Lakshadweep, Praful Patel, and Vice Chancellor of RRU, Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel.
Praful Patel, Administrator, said, “RRU with its expertise and capacities can contribute to preventative crime and generate cadres of youth who uphold and serve national security and police with highest moral, ethical and professional standards.”
The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials, including DIG Lakshadweep and SP Lakshadweep, marking a transformative partnership to strengthen security operations in India’s strategic island territory. This collaboration will focus on specialized training, advanced policing techniques, establishing the of a Dedicated ‘RRU & Lakshadweep Coastal & Island Security Centre’ (LCISC), and research-driven solutions to bolster coastal security and law enforcement.
With RRU’s expertise in policing education and Lakshadweep’s pivotal role in maritime governance, this MoU will drive innovation in policing, surveillance, and emergency response mechanisms. The partnership reflects India’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its maritime frontiers and ensuring sustainable security.
Coastal and Maritime tourism policing gets educational partnership
Lakshdweep is peaceful and crime free UT. Maritime tourism, and sport especially scuba diving has huge potential for contributing to the employment generation and infrastructure development.
Police officials expressed enthusiasm and are looking forward to benefit from educational courses, technology driven training and research.
