Get ready to lace up and run for a cause that inspires the nation! The South Western Air Command (SWAC), Indian Air Force, Gandhinagar, will host the Nirmaljeet Singh Sekhon Marathon (SIM 2025) on November 2, 2025, in honour of Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the only IAF officer to receive the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest wartime gallantry award.
The marathon — a powerful blend of fitness, patriotism, and tribute — will be conducted in three categories: 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km, open to men, women, children, and participants of all ages.
“This marathon is not just about endurance; it’s about honouring the spirit of India’s air warriors. Every step taken is a salute to Flying Officer Sekhon’s valour and the unwavering courage of the Indian Air Force,”
said an SWAC spokesperson.
With overwhelming response pouring in from across Gujarat and neighbouring states, the organisers have extended the registration deadline to October 28, 2025, giving more fitness enthusiasts and patriots a chance to join this landmark event.
“We want everyone — from school students to veterans — to be part of this run of pride. It’s a celebration of unity, discipline, and national pride,”
added the spokesperson.
