Encouraged by the overwhelming response to the ‘One Station One Product’ scheme in five phases, the Southern Railway has launched the first spell of the Sixth Phase on Friday at 89 stations with variety of products displayed for promotion and sale across its all six divisions.
In the first spell of Phase VI, products such as palm products, textiles, Palani Panchamritham, Srivilliputhur palgova etc. will feature in OSOP stalls at various railway stations providing an opportunity for the passengers to buy locally renowned, indigenous handicraft products, Textiles and Handlooms, local agricultural produce, etc.,
- This selling outlet has been conceptualized by the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, and development of the detailed design and the working prototype are under process.
- Southern Railway has identified 483 stations for the launch of OSOP Scheme in the subsequent phases
- Rs 1.21 crores earned as cumulative revenue by local artisans, weavers and Craftsmen in the last five phases of the scheme
- The PAN India launch of OSOP scheme at around 5,000 stations is likely to be done around the first week of September, 2022.

The pilot scheme which was launched on March 25 this year in Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MGR Chennai Central has proliferated into 53 stations at the conclusion of its fifth spell and has now reached 89 stations in its Sixth spell. A cumulative revenue of Rs 1.21 crore was registered by the OSOP outlets in Southern Railway till Thursday, July 7 spanning across five phases of its implementation and thus serving as source of livelihood for local artisans, weavers and craftsmen who had set up these outlets.
Southern Railway’s endeavour to identify and promote indigenous products of local fame has received wide acclaim with the One Station One Product Kanchipuram Silk Saree Stall at Dr MGR Chennai Central topping the pan-India list of OSOP stalls registering highest turnover. The outlet registered Rs 55,57,605 till Thursday, the conclusion of fifth spell, with an average sale of Rs 52,000 per day. Sungudi Saree Stall at Madurai, another Kanchipuram Silk Saree Stall at Chennai Egmore, Palm Product Stalls at Tirunelveli and Tiruchendur also featured in the top 10 list.
Southern Railway has identified 483 stations for the launch of OSOP Scheme in the subsequent phases. These stations will be part of the initiative to be launched across 5000 stations over Indian Railways.
One Station One Product Scheme
ONE STATION ONE PRODUCT – OSOP scheme was announced by the Union Finance Minister in the budget 2022-23. It is a scheme envisaged to popularise and encourage local business and supply chain. A scheme to provide enhanced livelihood and skill development to artisans, craftsmen, potters, weavers, tribals etc.
Railway Board has notified the policy for implementation of “One Station One Product” Scheme vide Commercial Circular no.12 of 2022 on 20.05.2022. The PAN India launch of OSOP scheme at around 5,000 stations is likely to be done around the first week of September, 2022.
OSOP sale outlets at the identified stations will have distinctive look, feel and logo. This selling outlet has been conceptualized by the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, and development of the detailed design and the working prototype are under process.
