Southern Railway Chennai Divisional Railway Manager Ganesh on Tuesday inaugurated the mass tree plantation drive at Velachery Railway Colony as part of ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ – Cleanliness fortnight campaign – at Railway stations and Trains.

The Chennai Division also simultaneously organized a massive cleanliness drive at its 160 Railway Stations which was overseen by an officer of respective station on Tuesday.
Highlighting the significance of the drive, Ganesh, Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai Division inaugurated the mass tree plantation drive at Velachery Railway Colony during which more than 50 tree saplings were planted at the Railway premises.
R Ananth, Chief Project Manager, S Subramanian, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Prateek Motwani, Senior Divisional Environment and Housekeeping Manager and other Officers of Chennai Division also participated in the tree plantation drive.
In keeping with the spirit, this Swachhata Pakhwada cleanliness drive was also organized in Depots, Sheds, Health Units, Railway Colonies, Railway Schools, Hospitals and other Railway Offices throughout the Chennai Division.
