As part of generating more revenue, the Business Development Unit (BDU) of Salem Division of the Southern Railway has acquired several transportation contracts in the recent past.
Southern Railway took various measures to ensure unhindered movement of a variety of essential commodities and other goods and materials to reach the destinations eversince the lockdown was imposed in the country.
Overcoming all odds caused by the covid pandemic, Southern Railway transports raw materials and finished products which help the traders, businessmen and farmers. These activities aid the growth of the economy, too.
As part of its efforts to boost revene of the country’s largest transporter, it has acquired the business worth Rs. 47.8 lakhs for transporting Mosquito nets to Mancheswar in Bhubaneswar in Odisha from Karur in Salem Division.
The Mosquito nets in 42 wagons were flagged off to Odhisha on Monday.
Recently, Salem Division transported harvester machines from Chinna Salem to Nalgonda in Telangana and Surathkal in Karnataka, a release from Salem Divison of SR said.
