The San Francisco Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) & ACT Foundation USA planted fruit trees at the India Community Center, Milpitas to mark the Earth Day.
Those who were present at the tree planting program included Mayor Lily Mei of Fremont, Mohanji of ACT Foundation, CA Deepak Chopra, Director of the ICC, Sridharan Krishnamurthy President and Co-Founder of the Sankara Eye Foundation; Devi Mohan, Global President of ACT Foundation Global, and Indira Selvakumaraswami, Chock Karuppaiah of Vetrivel Foundation.

- Vish Arunachalam, Founder, Chairman and Director of the ICAI chapter participated in road show for the Tamil Nadu Foundation (TNF) www.tnfusa.org on Thursday
- TNF is organizing a global conference in Dallas in May.
“This is the first time the institute is organizing this tree planting drive to mark Earth Day,” said Vish Arunachalam, Founder, Chairman and Director of the ICAI, San Francisco chapter. Based on the response it was planned to organize every year, he said. The event was organized in association with ACT Foundation USA. With it being #EarthDay on the previous day, it was a wonderful honor to be able to give back to Mother Earth by planting fruit trees together.
Mohanji was honored along with others Deepak Chopra, CEO ICC Raj Desai, and Vidya Rajagopalan, President of ACT Foundation USA. Vidya is a chartered accountant by profession. Several fruit bearing trees were planted by the youth and the old alike with great enthusiasm.
Mayor Lily Mei spoke at the occasion and said that she was pleased to see such work being done there, where many generations will benefit from the fruits, shade, clean air, and beauty of the trees. Mohanji and CA Deepak Chopra placed a plaque in the soil remembering this special Earth Day Event. Later, a similar event was organized at Tracy in East Bay on Sunday.
CAs Roshani Biyani of ICAI Ohio, Sridhar Venkatesan of Los Angeles, Jay Swaminathan of Appwrap, Shachindra Nath and Manisha Anarkat of San Francisco participated in the event.
On Friday, the chapter presented Nirmala Sitharaman, Indian Finance Minister, who was visiting Bay Area, with a memento. Vish also participated in a road show for the Tamil Nadu Foundation (TNF) on Thursday. TNF is organizing a global conference in Dallas in May.
