AHMEDABAD, APRIL 29
Even as the state celebrates its foundation day or the anniversary of the erstwhile Bombay State’s 1960 bifurcation into Gujarat and Maharashtra on May 1, which falls on Sunday, an Ahmedabad-based Trust has decided to celebrate it in a grand scale like Republic Day and Independence Day.
Speaking with navjeevanexpress.com, Managing Trustee of Shree Sanjay Parikh Memorial Trust Milan Parikh, and Trustee Hemant Parikh, said, “This is the first-ever concept wherein Gujarat Foundation Day is celebrated at an individual level in a grand and befitting scale. By organising this event, we want to send a message that everyone should take pride in being a Gujarati and everyone should celebrate Gujarat Foundation Day just like the national festivals – Independence Day and Republic Day. Today a Gujarati has different image all around the world. We are proud of its rich heritage, culture and language.”
Our guests of honour for the Gujarat Foundation Day will be Union Cabinet Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala; Union Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan; Lok Sabah MP Dipsinh Rathod, Gujarat Legislative Assembly Speaker Nimaben Acharya and Assam Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Dr Numal Momin. They will speak at length on Vibrant Gujarat’s pride with anecdotes.
The guests of honour will be welcomed in a traditional way with Garba performance and tribal dance by well known artists. This will be followed by eminent Poet Krishna Dave’s address on the importance of the Gujarat Foundation Day. A live flute rendering by an expert artist will be icing on the cake for the event.
Dr Dhvani Parikh’s NGO will be launched by the guests of honour to step up social uplift programmes.
This celebrations will commence at 6:30 pm on Sunday at the Common Party Plot of Sanidhya Bungalow 2 on 100-ft road in Anandnagar, Ahmedabad.
The event will culminate with a sumptuous feast to show the rich hospitality of Aapnu Gujaratis, the organisers said.
