SAP, the global leader in enterprise application software and business AI, has launched its SAP Sovereign Cloud in India, a landmark step in advancing the nation’s digital sovereignty. Fully compliant with India’s National Information Security Policy & Guidelines (NISPG), the new cloud offering equips governments and regulated industries with the ability to modernize securely—leveraging cloud and AI while retaining absolute control over sensitive data and systems.
As AI-driven innovation reshapes industries, SAP Sovereign Cloud strengthens digital resilience through four dimensions of sovereignty—data, operational, technical, and legal. Together, these safeguards enable Indian enterprises to build future-ready digital ecosystems that are secure, compliant, and innovation-centric.
Built as a full-stack framework spanning infrastructure, platform, applications, and AI, SAP Sovereign Cloud combines sovereign controls with an open-source foundation. Customers can choose deployment models best suited to their needs—ranging from on-site solutions hosted in their own data centers to hyperscaler partnerships with AWS—ensuring both flexibility and sovereignty.
“Digital sovereignty empowers public sector and regulated industries to build secure and resilient foundations for future growth. With SAP Sovereign Cloud in India, we are proud to enable innovation with freedom of choice—allowing customers to embrace cloud and AI while maintaining full control over data and operations,” said Martin Merz, President, SAP Sovereign Cloud.
Built for India, in India
The launch coincides with the inauguration of a Secure Operational Facility at SAP Labs India Innovation Park, Bengaluru. Purpose-built to meet the stringent requirements of India’s national security authorities, the facility is aligned with government security policies and will serve as a hub for compliance, co-creation, and innovation—advancing sovereign cloud solutions “built in India, for India.”
“SAP Sovereign Cloud in India reflects our strong commitment to the nation’s digital transformation,” said Manish Prasad, President & Managing Director, SAP Indian Subcontinent. “By ensuring that critical data remains secure, compliant, and within sovereign boundaries, we are enabling industries to innovate with confidence. This is a milestone in India’s journey toward self-reliance and a trusted digital future.”
With this initiative, SAP reinforces its role as a strategic partner in India’s vision of becoming a technology-driven, self-reliant economy where growth is underpinned by trust, compliance, and innovation.
