In the Kollywood industry actors are known by their ‘titles’ for portraying characters well. This trend also helps them to build a ‘brand image’ among the masses.
In Tamil cinema, Sivaji Ganesan as Nadigar Thilagam, M G Ramachandran was called fondly as ‘Puratchi Thalaivar’, Rajinikanth goes by the title ‘Superstar’, Kamal Haasan is called ‘Ulaga Nayagan’, Vijay is known as ‘Thalapathy, Ajith Kumar goes by the name ‘Ultimate Star’ and Vikram is fondly called ‘Chiyaan’.
Speaking at the trailer launch of the upcoming mass entertainer ‘Etharkkum Thunindhavan’ which will hit the silver screens worldwide on March 10, veteran actor Sathyaraj conferred the title of ‘Puratchi Naayagan’ on Singham Suriya in recognition of his exemplary roles in films like ‘Soorarai Potru’ and ‘Bhim’.
Suriya is currently awaiting the release of his upcoming mass entertainer, ‘Etharkkum Thunindhavan’, written and directed by Pandiraj. Bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran’s Sun Pictures, a press meet event marking the trailer launch of the film took place with the cast & crew recently in Chennai.
Speaking at the press meet, actor Sathyaraj announced that he is conferring the title ‘Puratchi Naayagan’ on Suriya.
Following this, fans are expecting that the films’ title credits will hereafter read ‘Puratchi Naayagan Suriya’ starting from the rural entertainer ‘Etharkkum Thunindhavan’. The trailer of ‘ET’ was released on Wednesday and received a huge response from the fans. Suriya will be seen as an advocate and vigilante who fights injustice against women in the movie.
Former News Reader in Sun TV Priyanka Mohan is paired with Suriya in ‘Etharkkum Thunindhavan’ while Vinay Rai plays the villain. The film also stars Soori, Ilavarasu, Redin Kingsley, Rajkiran, Saranya Ponvannan, CWC Pugazh, Ramar and MS Bhaskar. D Imman is scoring music with visuals and cuts by R Rathnavelu and Ruben.
