They believe an actor’s life is all about glamour and luxury, but behind the scenes – there’ve been many a times when your favorite artistes have to go above and beyond their basic acting skills. One such story is when filming under extreme conditions, beauty queen Sridevi wore a silk saree and danced on the ice during the film Chandni.

Rani Chatterjee

And recently, the sensational Rani Chatterjee, for her stint in the web series Mastram, took inspiration from the legend herself and filmed in -5 degrees wearing only a lehenga /chaniya choli!

Mastram – the quintessential writer of the 80s who spoke the lingo of the Hindi heartland – literally, brings viewers 10 masaledaar stories of passion that intertwines with turbulent day-to-day scenarios from his real life. His stories were the only guide required to graduate from boys to men.

Featuring in Ep 1 and elaborating on an anecdote whilst shooting for the same, Rani shared saying, “We were filming in Manali and my character was designed in a manner where it was necessary for me to wear a chaniya choli. This obviously made it difficult to incorporate thermals. Our director, to pump me up started narrating the story of Chandni and how Srideviji gave it her all – especially the scene where she had to shoot on ice in a saree. I’ve always been a fan and despite the fact that I was freezing, I tried to give the shot my best.”

The series stars an ensemble cast with Anshuman Jha, Tara Alisha Berry, Aakash Dabhade, Rani Chatterjee, Jagat Rawat, Kenisha Awasthi, Garima Jain, Isha Chabbra and Aabha Paul in key roles.
