The Art Connect Group is hosting its ninth annual painting exhibition from 18 to 23 November 2025 at the Hathisingh Visual Art Centre in Ahmedabad. This year’s theme is Still Life, and 32 distinguished artists are participating, unveiling fresh and thought-provoking works around everyday objects.
Among the artists is Anil Shah, a seasoned painter well-known for his long association with The Indian Express (Ahmedabad edition). Anil Shah’s participation carries deep significance, as he is currently marking a 50-year artistic journey, recently honoured through a major retrospective exhibition titled “The Golden Journey”.
Reflecting on his participation, Shah says: “Art is a conversation between light and shadow, and even the simplest object can tell a story. Joining this exhibition reminds me how every still life painting holds a world of memory and meaning.”
His 50-year retrospective, held at Amdavad Ni Gufa, has drawn art lovers from all over, celebrating his evolution from early sketches to powerful mature works.
A proud milestone, Shah’s journey is deeply rooted in Ahmedabad’s art world and reflects his commitment to exploring form, colour and emotion over decades. As he says: “It’s not enough to paint—one must listen to the silence behind every stroke, because that’s where the soul of a painting lives.”
The Art Connect exhibition is open to visitors daily from 4 pm to 8 pm, offering an excellent opportunity not only for art lovers but also for students, budding artists, and families to immerse themselves in the delicate balance of realism, abstraction and personal expression.
Whether you’re drawn to gentle arrangements of fruit, rustic household objects, or symbolic compositions, the exhibition promises to be a rich and inspiring visual journey — and a testament to the diversity of talent shaping Ahmedabad’s creative future.
