Valiant Team of Tamilnadu NCC cadets (8 Boys & 8 Girls) participated in All India Inter Directorate Sports Shooting Competition (IDSSC) held at Thiruvananthapuram recently showcased their exceptional marksmanship and bagged medals. A group of 16 cadets represented the Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and the Andaman Nicobar Islands in the 14-day shooting contest held from July 3 to 16.
The team competed among 17 State Directorates (All India) and brought laurels to the Taminadu state by achieving overall Second Position and won ‘Runners-Up’ Trophy. Tamilnadu state cadets delivered a superlative performance in competition in which Cadet Preethi V of Sri GVG Visalakshi College, Udumalpet and CUO Arun Sharma of RR College, Rajapalayam bagged two Gold Medals and CSUO Balaji of Jamal Mohamed College, Trichy and Cadet C Shiva of MRGA College, Mannargudi bagged three Bronze Medals respectively. All cadets also qualified for All India GV Mavalankar Championship Competition (Pre Nationals) Scheduled at Army Marksmanship Unit Shooting Range in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh to be held in the month of September 2023.

These cadets were selected after the state level selection trials conducted in the month of April – May 2023 and undergone various stages of Sports Shooting training at Cadets Academy in Trichy, Kongu Engineering College in Erode and INS AGRANI, Coimbatore from May – June 2023.
The felicitation ceremony was organised at Headquarters NCC Directorate (TN, P & AN) Chennai on Monday to welcome the winning team. Commodore Atul Kumar Rastogi, Deputy Director General of NCC (TN,P & AN) presented mementos to cadets during the felicitation ceremony.
The Tamilnadu team also met Atulya Misra IAS, Additional Chief Secretary of Youth Welfare and Sports Development at the YWSD, Secretariat, Chennai.
