In a show of solidarity, AIADMK coordinator and Deputy Chief Minister O Paneerselvam announced incumbent Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami as the CM candidate for the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections while Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy announced the formation of a steering committee on Wednesday.

Addressing the media along with Palaniswami and other senior leaders at the party headquarters, AIADMK coordinator Panneerselvam said: “I am happy to announce that our dear brother Palaniswami will be the victorious Chief Ministerial candidate of the AIADMK for the 2021 Assembly elections.”
The decision has been taken unanimously in consultations led by party presidium chairman E Madusudanan, he said.
Apart from him, Palaniswami, party deputy coordinators K P Munusamy, R Vaithilingam, and members of the Steering Committee have unanimously resolved to nominate Palaniswami as the AIADMK’s Chief Ministerial candidate, he announced amid thunderous applause.

Palaniswami, who is also the joint coordinator of the party announced the formation of an 11-member steering committee, which will comprise Dindigul Sreenivasan, Thangamani, Velumani, D Jayakumar, C Ve Shanmugam, Kamaraj, JCD Prabakaran, Manoj Pandian, Mohan, Gopalakrishnan, Manickam.
Incidentally, the committee does not have not a single woman.
With this much-awaited twin announcements, the ruling party has shattered the dreams of DMK chief MK Stalin to become the next chief minister, party leaders said.
