Shree Geeta Bhavan Trust offers free artificial limbs and calipers to amputees in Chennai

Tamil Nadu Commissioner for Welfare of the Differently Abled M. Lakshmi, I.A.S. distributed free artificial limbs and calipers to 101 amputeeshere on Monday. It was sponsored by Shree Geeta Bhavan Trust organised by Mukti: M.S. Dadha Foundation at Geeta Bhavan Hall, Gopalapuram, Chennai, on Monday.

Shree Geeta Bhavan Trust was established in 1971 by the visionary founders – Sri Uggersen Goel ji, Sri Hari Gopal ji Agarwal, and Sri Ashok Kumar Goel ji – eminent philanthropists whose dedication and foresight laid the foundation for the Trust’s remarkable journey and growth.

This initiative saw the distribution of 101 artificial limbs and callipers to the amputees who are underprivileged individuals, many of whom came from various districts in Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states. This event marks the third year of the limb camp, bringing the total number of limbs distributed so far to 253. Additionally, the Trust has undertaken various projects, including solemnizied over 600 free mass marriages for differently-abled persons, building toilets and bathrooms for girls’ hostel, providing scholarships to students who are from poor background and donating hospital equipment’s to support healthcare for the poor. Conducting regular free medical camps in multiple specialisations. Conducting regular Free classes in Yoga, Sanskrit, Gita, Hindi. Welfare of Transgender communities. Through these initiatives, the Trust has touched countless lives, offering hope and support to those in need.

“Each individual has the right to dream and seek equal opportunities, but life sometimes presents challenges that are harder to overcome. Whether through an accident or illness, the reality of living with a disability is tough. Our Trust aims to empower individuals by providing free artificial limbs and callipers, helping them regain mobility and independence,” said Manu Goel, Managing Trustee of Shree Geeta Bhavan Trust.

Talking to navjeevanexpress.com Mr Manu Goel said that the trust will soon create ramp facility in Geeta Bhavan to make differently-abled friendly. He also asserted that that many students who had pursued professional education with the help scholarship by the Geeta Bhavan Trust are giving back to the society in various ways, he added.

Manu Goel further highlighted, “We are proud to partner with the M.S. Dadha Foundation, an institution committed to raising awareness and building self-confidence among physically challenged individuals. Our combined efforts reflect our ongoing commitment to inclusivity and the empowerment of people with disabilities.”

Om Prakash Modi, Chairman; Murarilal Sonthalia, Treasurer; Shivkumar Goenka; Manoharlal Bagaria; K.K. Gupta; Vishal Agarwal; Trustees from Shree Geeta Bhavan Trust, were also present at the event.

Key Activities of the Trust:

  • Welfare programs for the differently abled.
  • Financial aid to deserving and needy students.
  • Medical assistance to the ill and underprivileged.
  • Annadhan (free food distribution) for the poor and destitute.
  • Sponsorship of artificial limbs for differently abled individuals.
  • Free mass marriages for the differently abled and economically weaker sections.
  • Free medical camps in multiple specializations.
  • Financial support to institutions, schools, and hospitals for equipment and infrastructure development.
  • Sponsorship of medical equipment to charitable hospitals.
  • Various welfare initiatives including the construction of toilets and girls’ hostels.
  • Regular free classes in Yoga, Sanskrit, and the Bhagavad Gita conducted by experienced professionals.
  • Aid and relief work during natural calamities.
  • Welfare programs for the transgender community.
