On account of the third death anniversary of the former Chief Minister and AIADMK leader J. Jayalalithaa, leaders of the party led by the Co-ordinator and Deputy Chief Minister O. Paneerselvam, Co-ordinator Edappadi K. Palaniswami along with the Deputy Coordinator and former minister K.P. Munusamy paid floral tributes at the Jayalalithaa’s memorial at Marina bench here on Thursday morning.
Party’s senior leaders, ministers and party functionaries took out a procession in black attire to observe her death anniversary. A silent procession was taken out from the statue of former Chief Minister C. N. Annadurai situated at Anna Salai – Wallajah Salai junction in Chennai. The silent procession was spearheaded by the Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam.
After paying floral tributes at the memorial of Jayalalithaa, the party leaders took the pledge to carry forward the legacy and welfare schemes of their mentor to the general public and downtrodden.
Speaking on this occasion, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami appealed the party men to observe two-minute silence to pay respect the departed leader. The pledge was administered to the leaders by. O. Panneerselvam. Leaders and the party workers vowed to protect the party and win all the elections in future.
Vehicular traffic from Anna Salai-Walajah junction and Kamarajar Salai were closed for traffic.
AMMK leader pays tribute
Leader of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) led by its leader T.T.K. Dinakaran took out a procession from Anna statue and paid floral tribute at Jayalalithaa’s samaadhi.
Party workers kept the portrait of Jayalalithaa with flowers on it in every street corners across the city to mark the death anniversary of their leader.
