Laughter echoed across the campus of Keriyawadi School in Koliyak as students rushed towards newly installed slides and swings, their faces lighting up with excitement. For the 130 children studying at the school, Tuesday turned into a day of pure joy as the Rotary Club of Bhavnagar Vibrant rolled out a ‘funtastic’ initiative combining play, nutrition and celebration.
The installation of two slides and a swing instantly transformed the school premises into a vibrant play zone. Children queued eagerly for their turn, clapping, cheering and urging their friends on, clearly thrilled to see their school turn into a space that encouraged both fun and freedom.
The atmosphere became even more cheerful when the birthday of a student, Sonam, was celebrated during the programme. As cake was shared, students broke into spontaneous applause, some singing birthday wishes while others happily savoured the treat, calling it “the best school day ever.”
Keeping the winter season in mind, the Rotary Club distributed nutritious snacks of dates and chana. Students eagerly received the food, many sharing with classmates and proudly telling teachers how the snacks would “make them strong and energetic.”
Sharing the philosophy behind the initiative, Club President Namrita Chadha said, “Fun-based education builds confidence and curiosity in children, while nutritious food supports their ability to learn. When children are happy and healthy, learning becomes natural and joyful.”
Club Secretary Sunita Shah and Club Member Krishna Shah were also present, interacting closely with the students, encouraging them to play freely and enjoy the day. The children responded with beaming smiles, high-fives and enthusiastic conversations, clearly feeling valued and cared for.
Teachers at the school noted that the initiative brought visible positivity among students, who were more engaged, expressive and eager to attend school. The school staff and students expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Rotary Club of Bhavnagar Vibrant, describing the initiative as a meaningful step towards creating a supportive, happy and holistic learning environment.
