National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31 every year since 2014. Popularly known as the “Iron Man of India”, Sardar Patel is known to have played a crucial role in the unification of India.

To mark the 145th Birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Southern Railway has organized a commemorative March Past by RPF Contingent at the Zonal Headquarters in Chennai.
Earlier, John Thomas, General Manager, Southern Railway administered Ekta Diwas Pledge to the Officers and Staff of Southern Railway and received the Guard of Honour by RPF Platoons.
Birendra Kumar, Principal Chief Security Commissioner, Southern Railway and other Senior Officials of Southern Railway were present, says a release.
