Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER) on Thursday announced that Professor, Department of Orthodontics & Associate Dean (Research), Dr. Sridevi Padmanabhan, has been elected President of the Indian Orthodontic Society (IOS) at its annual conference held last month.
- Her tenure of President will be for 2025-2026 during which she hopes to empower collaborative learning and research and focus on public advocacy
- Earlier, she has served as editor of the Journal of the Indian Orthodontic Society (2014-18) and the Honorary Secretary between 2018-22
The IOS, established in 1965 is the first Speciality Association of Dentistry in India and has more than 10,000 life and student members. The speciality of orthodontics deals with corrections of irregularities of the teeth and jaws that not merely affect facial and smile esthetics but can impact health of the jaw joints and functions such as speech, breathing and chewing.
The goals of the Society are to promote the study and advancement of the science of Orthodontics and to popularise and educate the public about the importance of seeking orthodontic treatment from qualified specialists.
Dr. Sridevi Padmanabhan has previously served as editor of the Journal of the Indian Orthodontic Society(2014-18) and the Hon. Secretary between 2018-22. Her tenure of President will extend from 2025-2026 during which she hopes to empower collaborative learning and research and focus on public advocacy.
