Giving shape to the dreams of National Poet Subramania Bharathir, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER) has more women faculty and students than men and they are encouraged, trained and empowered to assume higher responsibilities in healthcare and nation building, said Vice Chancellor Dr. Uma Sekar.
She was speaking at the International Women’s Day celebrations here on Thursday.
It was observed at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research with an assembly of over 500 women faculty, students and staff in front of Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre with placards calling for protection and education of girl children, and their empowerment, protection from diseases and atrocities. This rally was led by the Vice Chancellor Dr. Uma Sekar, the Registrar Prof. Roopa Nagarajan and Dean Research Dr. Kalpana Balakrishnan.
