The students of Ashraya, a school for special children, run by Southern Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation, Headquarters (SRWWO), performed various cultural programmes to mark the Teachers’ day here on Monday.

Renuka G Mallya, President of SRWWO (HQ) was the Chief Guest. She distributed prizes to the students, teaching & non-teaching staff.  The students performed various cultural programmes in the presence of the Chief Guest and Babita Dutta, Vice President, SRWWO (HQ) and members Sangeetha Gupta, Monika Singhal and others.

Ashraya, a school cum vocational training centre, exclusively run for the special children was started on 8th February, 1993.  Offering individualized educational programme for children from the age of six years, the main objective of this institution is to make these special children independent and self reliant by emphasising on self help skills, academics, pre-vocational skills and vocational training.

At present, 38 special children are studying at Ashraya Special School.
