With a view to increase and expand students’ prospects for employment, Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University, recently implemented IBM SkillsBuild for Academia programme for its students. IBM SkillsBuild for Academia is a programme aimed at providing graduating students with a direct hands-on experience on ‘industrial strength’ tools that will assist to build skills for the future in their chosen career. The programme is being implemented by an Ahmedabad-based organisation, CSRBox, which is the implementation partner of IBM SkillsBuild in India.
The programme has been implemented as part of the collaboration between Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University and CSRBox.
As part of this collaboration, CSRBox will enable students and faculty members of an onboarded college with access to IBM Software and Cloud platforms, by updating the domain ID of the institute on the programme portal. Students have already been on-boarded for the student accessibility and respective IBM trainers have conducted masterclasses on topics of AI at the university campus.
IBM SkillsBuild for Academia offers a wide range of courses and content designed to enhance digital literacy, technical skills, and professional competencies.
Students of Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University will get 365 days free access to 800+ software costing up to $200 per student. Here, students can explore multiple contextualized uses along with an on-campus guest lecture of IBM trainers. Platforms also offer software and courses on emerging technologies such as IBM Cloud, IBM Watson, IBM Watson assistance, IBM Cognos, etc.
The IBM SkillsBuild for Academia programme allows and encourages learners, educators, and researchers at degree granting accredited academic institutions to leverage IBM tools, courses, and other resources in the classroom. So far, at least 9 lakh student users, 12,000 faculty users from across 10,000 academic institutions have participated in the programme across the globe.

This will not only increase the prospects for employability of each student but also add true value to the academic knowledge of the students.”
As a next step, students will get access as part of this program in which they will be able to explore courses and use softwares for free of cost. Students have undergone a detailed orientation course for the implementation of this programme. During the session, a master class was also conducted for students by an IBM trainer at the university campus. Students gained a detailed perspective on the application and use of subjects like Chatbots, Data Analytics using AI Tools, among others.
Upon completing courses, learners earn digital badges and certifications from IBM, which are recognized by employers across the globe. These credentials validate the skills acquired and can significantly boost employability and career prospects. The platform also provides practical experiences through projects and assignments that apply learned skills to real-world scenarios, enhancing the understanding and application of knowledge.
