Star couple of Kollywood Suriya and Jyotika donated Rs 1 crore to the welfare of the Irula tribe. A cheque for the amount was handed over to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.
Retired Justice K Chandru and members of Pazhankudi Irular Trust received the cheque from Suriya, Jyotika and MK Stalin.

Incidentally, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin had praised Superstar Suriya for his superb acting as an advocate crusading against the custodial death in Jai Bhim.

The film will be streamed on the OTT platform of Amazon on November 2.
Directed by Tha Se Gnanavel, Jai Bhim is based on a true incident that happened in 1993. The film speaks about caste discrimination and injustice subjected to the Irula tribe.
On behalf of their production house, 2D Entertainment, Suriya and Jyotika donated Rs 1 crore to Pazhankudi Irular Education Trust. The production house wrote, “Rs. 1Cr was donated towards the welfare of the Irula Tribe, by @Suriya_offl Sir & #Jyotika Ma’am on behalf of 2D in the presence of our Hon’ble Chief Minister of TN @mkstalin the cheque was handed over to Justice K. Chandru (Retd) & members of Pazhangudi Irula Trust. #JaiBhim (sic).”
