The state education department aims to create 51,000 jobs for final-year college students by holding placement fairs in various cities of Gujarat. To bridge the gap between industry and academia, the state education department will hold job fairs between February 3 and February 23 in all the major cities, including Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, and Vadodara.
In all about 4,000 companies, including small and medium firms, have registered to participate in this recruitment drive, said government sources. “About 80,000 candidates have registered so far to participate in the job fairs,” said Anju Sharma, the principal secretary for higher education.
“This unique initiative by the department was held for the first time in 2019 and 28,000 students were recruited. This year we have set the target for 51,000 candidates.”
This time, start-ups have also been included, said Sharma.
