RAJKOT, AUG 12

In a remarkable display of surgical expertise, doctors at Sterling Hospitals successfully treated patients who suffered from major burns in a blast in a Morbi house. The 3-year-old boy was 50 to 60% burnt, his father was 75%, and the woman was 90% burnt along with other critical injuries.

Dr. Mayur Vaghela, trauma surgeon at Sterling Hospitals, and his team successfully managed this complex treatment, with all three patients now discharged without complications.

Notably, patients with burns covering more than 50% are challenging to save, yet all three of the patients mentioned were successfully treated. If young children suffer burns covering 55% of their body, they face the same risk as individuals with burns covering 100% of their body. The survival of 90% of burn patients are said to be a miracle, as only a few cases out of 90 % of burn patients have been reported in the world so far.

Speaking on the complications associated with the surgery, Dr. Mayur Vaghela said, “Patients with severe burns may require an early tracheostomy to prevent airway obstruction. We have introduced a new method, where daily eschar removal under anaesthesia in the operating theatre helps prevent sepsis and infection in major burn cases. This approach has successfully saved numerous patients to date.”

Sterling Hospitals, Rajkot, a renowned facility in Saurashtra-Kutch, has been providing exceptional care for the past 15 years. The hospital has world-class amenities, including a team of super-specialist doctors, state-of-the-art operating theatres and ICU facilities, experienced nursing staff and medical officers, a full-time anaesthesiology team, and dedicated services for treatment, post-operative rehabilitation, and physiotherapy. By treating severe bun injuries the hospital  instil hopes for the patients and local for treatment regarding the burn injuries in this remote part of Kutch – Saurashtra region.

Dr. Vaghela, along with team of Dr. Sankalp Vanzara (Head of the Department of Critical Care), Dr. Kunal Desai (General Physician and Intensivist), Dr. Krutarth Kanjiya (Infectious Diseases Specialist), and Dr. Urvi Sanghvi (Pediatric Intensivist) meticulously performed this critical treatment. Together, this multidisciplinary team has played a key role in reviving and stabilizing patients, especially those with severe burns or other critical conditions.

Mr. Raj Kadecha, Zonal Director, Sterling Hospitals said, “This unit is managed by our team of experienced medical professionals and trained nursing staff. Additionally, our hospital is equipped with a laparoscopic, trauma, and non-infectious operating theatre featuring C-100 laminar airflow and HEPA filters. To date, over 100 patients have been successfully treated and revived in our specialized burns unit. Our team of doctors and paramedics have exemplified the clinical excellence moto of our group in patient care. With these cases, I would like to assure the people around that Sterling Hospitals are always ready to treat them during critical emergencies.”
