A team of SVKM’s Pravin Gandhi College of Law proudly lifted the championship trophy of the 1st RRU National Moot Court Competition, securing a cash prize of Rs. 51,000. The School of National Security and Law at RRU proudly concluded the highly anticipated National Moot Court Competition on the theme of “Economic & Financial Security of India”, from August 23rd to August 25th, 2023. This prestigious event brought together 41 teams consisting of more than 120 participants from various institutions across India, showcasing their legal expertise and advocacy skills.
The Runner-up trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 31,000 were claimed by the team representing Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai. The titles of Best Speaker, Researcher, and Best Memorial were merited by Ms. Blaisy Babby Peter (Christ (Deemed to be University), Bangalore Central Campus), Ms. Shreya Madaan (Symbiosis Law School, Pune), Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai respectively each awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000.
The momentous inaugural ceremony was graced by Justice Sonia Gokani, Former Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court whose presence imparted a strong impetus to the participants, inspiring them to strive for legal brilliance.
She mentioned in her special address about the significance of having a scientific temper “To feel that once, being a science student when I chose to go for the law the person who was a veteran in the field told me that this is going to be an excellent combination. You must have a scientific temper and scientific attitude. You can dissect the law very beautifully”.
Professor. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice Chancellor, RRU, remarked during his inaugural address, “Through this moot court competition, RRU aims to foster curiosity and research in the economic dimension of national security, while equipping young legal minds to effectively navigate matters involving economic crimes and financial frauds.”
The valedictory ceremony of the 1st RRU National Moot Court Competition was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Justice B. N Karia, former Judge of the Gujarat High Court, and Ashwani Bhatia, Whole-time member of SEBI, Professor (Dr) Bimal. N. Patel, Vice-Chancellor, Rashtriya Raksha University, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor (Dr) Kalpesh. H. Wandra. The gathering was warmly welcomed by Dr. Dimple T. Raval, Director of the School of National Security and Law. The Guest of Honour, Shri. Ashwani Bhatia, Whole-time member of SEBI, addressed the gathering, highlighted the importance of Financial and Economical Security. He emphasized as Indians, and youngsters to become long term investors in the growth story of the country. Honourable Mr. Justice B. N Karia, the chief guest, addressed the attendees, highlighted the importance of legal profession and inspired the young minds with his words of wisdom.
The curtains drew to a close on the 1st RRU National Moot Court Competition with a Vote of Thanks extended by Gantav Gupta, Assistant Professor and Faculty Convenor of the Moot Court Committee.
