Lieutenant General AS Bhinder, GOC-in-C, Sapta Shakti Command on Tuesday honoured the army mountaineering expedition team of Chetak Corps which has successfully summitted Mount Bhagirathi- II (6521m) on September 11.

The expedition was undertaken as a tribute to the valour of the Indian Army during the 1971 India-Pak war as part of the Swarnim Vijay Varsh Celebration Lt. Col. Amitabh Sharma, Defence spokesperson, Rajasthan said in a release.
The team, Daredevil XIV of Sudarshan Chakra Division, Chetak Corps comprising one officer, one JCO and seven other ranks led by Captain B Manoj Kumar and Naib Subedar Mala Ram, undertook an arduous trek braving the challenging weather and harsh conditions. This was the seventh successful expedition conducted by the experienced team.
The expedition team trekked along the Bhagirathi River to Gaumukh before proceeding to the Nandanvan Base Camp.
The team de-inducted to Jaipur on Tuesday, where it was Flagged In by Lieutenant General AS Bhinder, GOC-in-C, Sapta Shakti Command. The General Officer congratulated the team on successful completion of the expedition and lauded the team’s continuous contribution towards the sport of mountaineering.
