As part of the celebrations of 50 years of India’s triumph over Pakistan in the 1971 War, the Swarnim Vijay Varsh ‘Victory Flame’ was received with full military honours by the Officiating Commandant, EME School Vadodara on Sunday, says a release.

For the year long celebrations, four Victory Flames were lit on December 16, 2020 at the National War Memorial and sent in the four cardinal directions of the nation. These ‘Victory Flames’ were flagged off to showcase the nation’s gratitude to the brave sons of India who took part in the 1971 War.
One of these Victory Flames reached EME School Vadodara on Sunday and was given a Guard of Honour at the Quarter Guard. Thereafter, the flame was taken to the iconic Dakshinamurthy Mandir.
The brave scholar warriors of Corps of EME were awarded with five Sena Medals, six Vishist Seva Medals and 54 Mentioned-in-Dispatches during the 1971 War. During the Victory Flame’s stay at Vadodara, a series of events and programmes have been planned to commemorate the acts of valour of the Indian Armed Forces in the 1971 War.
