To welcome the new batch of undergraduate students of the Swarrnim School of Management, Commerce and Liberal Arts (SMCLA), Swarrnim Startup & Innovation University on Monday began with an eight-day orientation programme – ‘SWARR-आरंभ 2024’. The event saw participation of some 50 students on the first day of the programme, which will continue for another week.
The new batch of students were welcomed into the campus with a traditional ‘Tilak’ ceremony and welcome gifts, after which they were ceremonially escorted to the seminar hall of the university. The orientation programme officially began with the lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana, symbolising the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom. Dr. Kavita Kshatriya, Dean of Academics, SMCLA and Dr. Sourbhi Chaturvedi, Director of SMCLA, delivered inspiring welcome speeches to welcome the students and set the tone for the event.
The event also included lectures from key figures in the university, including Anuja Gupta, General Manager, Training & Placement and her team members, Jiten Thakkar, Incubation Manager. The day’s agenda concluded with administrative briefings and an introduction to upcoming activities, including an open mic and ice-breaking session.
“The Orientation Programme is a meticulously planned initiative to welcome the incoming students and perfectly induct them into the university and institute’s life. Besides giving information about academics, campus life and policies at SMCLA, the programme is also aimed at giving industry exposure to the students and preparing them for the challenges ahead,” said Adi Jain, Vice President, Swarrnim Startup & Innovation University.
On the second day, students participated in an industrial visit to Madhur Dairy in Gandhinagar.
Industry exposure along with social responsibility will be an integral part of the orientation programme for students. During the course of the programme, a visit to the Blind People Association and Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) in Vastrapur, Ahmedabad have been scheduled for the students followed by faculty briefing sessions on examination policies, committees, and campus life, followed by engaging management games. Students will also have an opportunity to participate in the heartfulness yoga session.
Over the subsequent days, a series of bridge courses on subjects such as communication, blockchain, computer skills, accounting, entrepreneurship, psychology, sustainability, economics, anti-ragging activities, the relevance of the Bhagavad Gita in management and finance and investment avenues, media and journalism, will be organised as part of the orientation programme.
Students will also be briefed in detail about student-led initiatives like Business Bazigar, Hunar Manch, Cine Joy, and Business News.
