Aarihant Homoeopathic Medical College & Research Institute, which is part of Swarrnim Startup & Innovation University recently organised an autopsy demonstration visit for second-year BHMS students at BJ Medical College, at the Civil Medicity Campus in Asarwa area of Ahmedabad. Some 42 students participated in the visit, which was held with a view to provide practical exposure to medico-legal autopsy procedures and enhance their understanding of forensic medicine.

Students were given a comprehensive orientation by the forensic team at the hospital before they witnessed a live autopsy demonstration. The procedure, which included external and internal examinations of the thoracic, abdominal, and cranial cavities, was explained in detail, highlighting both the technical and legal aspects of the process.

An interactive session also followed the live demonstration, as part of which students clarified their doubts and raised questions on how to identify injuries, the cause of death, and the importance of meticulous documentation.

The visit was coordinated by faculty members namely Dr Shashank Parashar, HoD, Professor, FMT Department along with Dr Kavish Pandey, Associate Professor, Anatomy Department and Dr Priyanka Chauhan, Assistant Professor, Physiology Department of the institute.

The visit enriched the students’ theoretical knowledge and also gave them exposure to the ethical and legal frameworks essential for forensic practice in India
