To make wannabe Kings and Queens in the board game, reality major Takshashila Group on Wednesday announced the hosting of the first-ever post-COVID ‘Chess Grand Master Competition’ in Ahmedabad on Sunday, said, Kamlesh Gondalia MD, Takshashila Group.
Speaking with navjeevanexpress.com, Takshashila Group Managing Director Kamlesh Gondalia, said, “The indoor games have been very popular during lockdown period. Among several games of this sort, chess rules the roost as it acts as one of the best brain exercises. There is no dearth in saying that there are many genius Gujarati kids who can beat any chess connoisseurs within a minute, however they do not have proper platform to excel at their forte. This is a new platform for junior chess masters of Gujarat – waanabe Kings and Queens – the emerging sports capital of India.”
To a query, Kamlesh replied that hosting of the chess tourney is one of their CSR initiatives. The company would also sponsor meritorious students to take part in domestic and international contests. Further, the company is planning to cover other sports too over a period of time.
Throwing light on the event, Takshashila Group Director Parthil Gondalia, said, “We provide a much-needed platform for waanabe Kings and Queens whilst building their career. This ‘Chess Grand Master Competition’ is going to be organized exclusively for the Gujarati kids on Sunday, March 27 here in Ahmedabad. For the first time in history, the chess competition will be held at the 100 meter high Takshashila Air Building on the Sabarmati Riverfront which is the tallest building in Gujarat. There will be two categories – Under 9 and Under 13. About 100 to 250 chidren are expected to take part in this event.”
Aditi Patel of Space Cave, an organisation for kids providing an opportunity and an environment to share, play, learn and participate, said, “Children from 9 to 13 years of age from Gujarat can participate in this competition. So, gear up yourself to register in the different categories of the competition as it is touted to set new milestones for you in the near future. Three prizes will be awarded to top three players in each category. The rotating trophy in each category will be awarded to the champion. The winners will also be awarded medals and certificates.
