Armed Forces Veterans Day Rally will be held at Tambaram Air Force Station in Chennai on January 14. Ex-servicemen from Army, Navy and Air Force are invited to participate in the event, says a release from Defence PRO here on Monday.
Armed Forces have the largest number of pensioners and family pensioners in the country and their number is steadily increasing. ‘Armed Forces Veterans Day’ is a tri-services annual event held all over the country on January 14 every year. It is celebrated to recognise the contribution of veterans who served the nation in the prime of their lives and to remember those who laid down their lives to defend the country.
This occasion will be used to resolve issues faced by veterans and their next of kins. The main focus of the event will be on enhancing the awareness on pension related issues, financial assistance, Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme. The problems, grievances and issues projected by armed forces veterans and their dependents will be compiled and addressed at the rally. A large number of Armed Forces Veterans are expected to participate in the rally, the release added.
