BHARUCH, MARCH 6
In a show of Hindu-Muslim harmony and solidarity, Abdulkhuda Mohd Hanif Shaikh, a resident of Gujarat, who belongs to Paraipatti village in Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu, raised funds for his village temple. Shaikh has been living in Bharuch for the past 10 years and arranged funds required for the construction of the temple.
Vijay Kumar, a resident of the village in Tamil Nadu, had sought help from Shaikh, who is his friend. The latter immediately got to work and managed to collect Rs 3 lakh.
“They had told me four months ago about their requirement. Several Tamilians are living here, right from Vapi to Mehsana. I went to them and collected around Rs 3 Lakh. Ten days back, the people from my village came and I handed over the money to them,” Shaikh said.
Grateful to his friend, Vijay Kumar said, “I had sought help from him. I stayed here in Gujarat for 10 days, and went around with him and collected Rs 3 Lakh. In our village, there are no Hindus or Muslims, all are like friends.”
