Tamil Nadu CM hoists national flag on ramparts of Fort St. George

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswamy hoisted the national flag on the ramparts of Fort St. George in Chennai. This time, there was no public view of the event due to the lockdown.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswamy hoisted the national flag on the ramparts of Fort St. George in Chennai. This time, there was no public view of the event due to the lockdown.

The freedom fighters and State awardees under various categories including for meritorious services and gallantry will be honoured at their residences.

The Chief Miniser arrived at around 8 am to the secretariat and he was welcomed by Chief Secretary K. Shanmugam.

DGP JK Tripathi, Chennai Police Commissioner Maheshkumar Agarwal, Additional DGP (Law and Order) K. Jayant Murali were present in the event.

Later, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy, after accepting the Guard of Honour by the Police team, he hoisted the Tricolor National Flag in the Secretariat.

After delivering the Independence day address, Chief Minister gave away gallantary awards and certificates of recognition for the awardees.

As many as 15 police officers from TN were presented with Chief Minister’s police medal for  Excellence on the occasion of Independence Day. Out of 15 police officers seven are women.

Educationalist Anandham Selvakumar was awarded Abdul Kalam award. While Anandhavalli, Senthamizh and Muthamaal of Perambalur district were awarded with Kalpana Chawla award.

The Chief Minister thanked the frontline warriors in his independence day address and made an announcement that a Veterinary hospital will be established in Udumalpet, soon.

All major public buildings in the state capital and district headquarters were illuminated in the national flag.

The iconic Napier Bridge and the Radhakrishnan Road Flyover are installed with a permanent multi color illuminating system, whose colour illumination pattern can be adjusted based on the occasion. They depict the national tricolor in a highly impressive manner since their inauguration last night.
