Many parts of the Tamil Nadu experiencing heavy to moderate rain, while intermittent rain continues in Chennai and its surrounding areas since Friday night.
A tree was uprooted near Ashok Pillar in Chennai on Saturday morning affecting free flow of traffic on this stretch. The tree was removed by the local body authorities in a few hours.
Many parts of Cuddalore is flooded with rain water, as intermittent rain continued for the past three days in the town and its surrounding places. Many roads were flooded, flood waters entered low-lying areas.
Reports received here said rain water entered into residences in a few areas and rainwater is stagnating in Manjakuppam and Anna Stadium grounds. The local body authorities and the public are pumping out the water.
Rain brings cheers among the faces of the farmers, as many as lakes in around Sri Mushnam were filled up. Inflow of water to almost all water bodies have been increased in Panruti, Chidambaram and Neyveli. Neraly 47 lakes in Cuddalore district were filled up, Weather Report Observatory (WRO) sources said.
Wall collapses on car in Puducherry
Due to incessant rain a wall of an old building on Subrayan street collapsed on an empty car on Friday evening. The car was partially damaged.
Meanwhile, Cheyyar in Thiruvannamalai district has recorded a maximum of 14 cm rain during the last 24 hours till 8 a.m. on Saturday. Chennai and its surrounding places and in interior district have recorded 8 to 5 cm rain, according to Chennai Metrological centre.
