The week-long ‘Tamil Thembu – Tamil Mann Thiruvizha’ was celebrated in Isha Yoga Center, Coimbatore with various features like special folk dances- Parai Attam, Oyilattam, Salangai Attam; Silambattam, a martial art that originated in Tamil Nadu along with traditional sports competitions and Siddha Medicine Awareness Exhibition. The festival which followed after Mahashivratri successfully created awareness about rejuvenating aspects of Tamil culture through celebrations.

For the past week, every evening, folk artists from various villages enthusiastically came forward to display their rich cultural heritage. Isha Brahmachari Swami Atindra narrated the stories of the Nayanmars and the history of the composition of Thevaram songs. Isha Samskriti students dazzled the audience with Kalaripayattu’s performance. Additionally, the ancient Kailasha Vadhyam, Adiyogi Divya Darshan and Maha Aarti were performed daily.
A native cow breed exhibition brought forth the need to preserve the breeds both for their unique quality and their profound relationship with Indian agriculture. On behalf of the Save Soil Movement, an exhibition of traditional rice varieties, an exhibition and sale of handloom garments by the traditional spinning and weaving community, sale of Geographical Indication (GI) tag rural foods items such as Thirunelveli Halwa, Thoothukudi Macaroon, Manapparai Murukku and sale of honey encapsulated the motley of culture the Tamil land represents.
