Tata International, the global trading arm of the Tata group, one of India’s leading exporters of leather and leather products, bagged major southern region export awards at the India International Leather Fair here on January 31.
The award was given away in recognition of Tata’s contribution towards the sector and its excellent performance during 2019-2020. The award ceremony took place in Chennai in the presence of the Chief Guest, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Union Minister for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship.
Muthukumaran, Global Business Head of Leather Products was present at the award ceremony. Tata International won the 3rdPlace in Overall Leather & Leather Products including Non-Leather Footwear category, which was received by Srinivasa Rao Aryasomayajula, Head – Finance & Accounts, Leather Products. S M Santhosh, Head, Quality Assurance, Leather Products received the award for winning the 2ndPlace in Leather Footwear (Above Rs. 300 crore) and the award for winning the 1st Place in Finished Leather (Above Rs. 100 and Below Rs. 200 crore) was received by K Subbarao, Manager – R&D, Leather Products. V. Sekar, Manager – Production, Leather Products, received the award for winning the 1st Place in Non-Leather Footwear (Upto Rs. 25 Crore) category.

Commenting on the occasion, V. Muthukumaran said, “It is an honor that our efforts have been recognized. I would like to dedicate these awards to the team at Tata International for their commitment towards fulfilling our business objectives and delivering the best to our stakeholders. As every year, these awards have motivated us further to do better. We are the third-largest exporter of leather and leather products, the largest exporter of finished leather and the second-largest exporter of leather footwear from India and we aim to grow substantially in 2020.”
The quality and customer orientation have helped Tata build enduring associations with major global brands like Clarks, Caleres, Wolverine, Deichmann, Zara, H&M, Marks & Spencer, Geox, Massimo Dutti and others, a company release said.
