Tata Motors has taken up various measures under its 3E initiatives to ensure the well-being of the community amidst the lockdown. In line with the company strategy to combat the crisis, the employees at Sanand have devoted themselves to initiatives that serve the greater good of the community, a company release said here on Friday.
Essential supplies provision distributed to 850 families
Tata Motors has organized for food supplies to migrants and stranded communities, urban slums, transit camps and villagers, drivers, co-drivers, mechanics, contractual and temporary workers, security personnel, in regions of Sanand, Viramgam, Ahmedabad and the villages of Kalana and Hirapur villages in Sanand Taluka. So far, 850 ration kits have been distributed that consist of all basic ingredients that can sustain an individual for at least a month. In addition to this, the company has also partnered with NGOs to distribute ration kits to HIV+ underprivileged families in Ahmedabad. Each ration kit consisted of 3kg rice, 3 kg wheat flour, 1 kg pulse, 1 kg sugar, 1 pkt chilli powder, 1 pkt turmeric powder, 1 pkt tea powder, 1 pkt salt, 1 ltr cooking oil, 2.5 kg potato, 2.5 kg onion, 1 soap, and 1 reusable mask. The social distancing norms were followed during the distribution exercise.
Equipping heroes on Ground-Zero
Tata Motors’ is supporting and assisting Self-Help Groups to manufacture home-made certified masks and sanitizers to be distributed to hospitals, vendors, health-workers, army personnel, police stations, forest department officials, in communities around the Sanand plant. So far,1550 masks and 950 sanitizer bottles of 100ml each have been distributed.
Educating masses for containment and prevention
Tata Motors is emphasizing on good health practices by putting up banners and other related information material to spread awareness in slums and amongst low-income group communities. TML Sanand’s awareness sessions in the Sanand Taluka began before the spread of COVID-19 in Gujarat. The company with support from Dr. Meena Shah along with a team of volunteers educated over 1000 individuals in several villages. The company is also leveraging its social media platforms to spread awareness about simple and easy precautionary measures one can adopt to stay unaffected and healthy.
