The Governor visited the Jawahar Nagar, NTR Nagar, etc., in Hanamkonda district and interacted with the flood-affected people.

While lauding the work of local officials in rescue missions, she underlined the importance of finding and resolving the underlying issues that caused the floods. One case in point was the collapse of a bridge at Jawahar colony, Hanamkonda, where locals had long sought repair.

Moved by their plight, the Governor assured them that she would take up their grievances to the notice of the authorities concerned.

“I was really pained visiting those places. People are suffering for want of food and water. In NTR Nagar, people lamented that though there is water everywhere, there is no water to drink. The government should have taken measures to provide food and water. They said they have not eaten for two to three days,” the governor said.

Braving the severe slushy and inundation conditions, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan visited the damaged houses and inundated paddy fields.

The Governor also distributed health kits, and groceries to the flood victims mobilized by the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS).

Hundreds of the flood affected people submitted representations to the Governor and the victims urged the Governor to interact with them all and listen to their woes.

The Governor moved by the fate of the flood victims, handed over some cash to the Red Cross Society Warangal and asked them to provide support for immediate needs.

She also emptied all the drinking water available in her vehicle and distributed to the victims, when they complained of lack of availability safe drinking water supply.

The Governor also interacted with the officials to know about the damage to the paddy fields and loss of property and livestock, and the number of people displaced or evacuated due to the inundation.

The Governor expressed compassion for the people who had been severely impacted by heavy rains and flooding, saying it was heartbreaking to watch their anguish. She emphasized the significance of urgent aid activities such as supplying groceries, hygiene kits, children’s food, and medicines.

Relief teams from the IRCS accompanied the Governor to extend relief measures to the people at the inundated areas.

Raj Bhavan senior officials accompanied the Governor during her visit to the flood-affected areas.
