Thalapathy Vijay’s much expected “Master’’ is expected to hit the screens around the globe on June 22, the actor’s 46th birth day, sources in the Kollywood here said.
The film was supposed to hit the screens on April 9, was indefinitely postponed, the producers of the film couldn’t release the film on the scheduled date, due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Now, it looks like the Master team has come up with a new release date. If rumours are to be believed, the film might hit the screens on June 22, coinciding with Vijay’s birthday.
Producers are hopeful that theatres and malls will be reopened post lockdown and things will become normal in June. Moreover, it is the actor’s birthday on June 22, and they don’t want to miss the opportunity.
In a bid to keep the spirit of the fans alive, the director of the film, Lokesh Kanagaraj shared a new poster on April 9. He also revealed that Thalapathy fans would receive information about a new release date soon.
The film was produced by Xavier Britto under his home banner XB Film Creators, the film features Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist. Malavika Mohanan, Andrea Jeremiah, Arjun Das and Shanthanu Bhagyaraj are also a part of the project.
Actor Vijay will be seen playing the role of a college professor in the film. The audio launch of the film took place at a plush hotel in Chennai on March 15. Speaking at the event, the actor said, “I am sad that my fans couldn’t attend the audio launch. We did this as a private event due to coronavirus. Thank you and I am sorry.”
He also heaped praise on the director of the film. “With Maanagaram, Lokesh made us notice his talent. His next film Kaithi made us watch it again and again. Lokesh has a special talent,” Thalapathy Vijay added
