The revered artwork was generously donated by Smt. Jayashree Phaneesh of Bengaluru to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra. Measuring an imposing 12 feet by 8 feet and weighing nearly 800 kilograms, the painting represents not just artistic brilliance but profound devotional significance.
Given its exceptional value, the Department of Posts deployed its Logistics Post service, executing the mission with military-grade precision and continuous supervision.
Precision Logistics for a Priceless Cultural Treasure
The Thanjavur painting was secured in a custom-built wooden crate, reinforced with multi-layer bubble wrapping and protective restraints to safeguard the artwork throughout its long journey. Loading and unloading were meticulously carried out using cranes and specialised handling equipment, ensuring zero stress on the artefact.
The vehicle carrying the painting departed Bengaluru on 17 December 2025 and traversed approximately 1,900 kilometres, reaching Ayodhya safely on 22 December 2025.
Nationwide Coordination Across Postal Circles
This complex logistics operation involved seamless coordination across multiple postal circles—Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Senior postal officials and Divisional Heads closely monitored the consignment along the route Bengaluru–Hyderabad–Nagpur–Jabalpur–Rewa–Prayagraj–Ayodhya.
Despite challenges such as dense fog during the final leg, the consignment was delivered with absolute precision and care, underscoring the robustness of India Post’s logistics capabilities.
Installed at Ram Janmabhoomi in Sacred Presence
Upon arrival in Ayodhya, the masterpiece was formally handed over and installed at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra in the presence of Shri Champat Rai, General Secretary, marking the culmination of a journey that united devotion, heritage and national service.
