To underscore the importance of skin donation, the All India People’s Rights and Legal Awareness Association has organized a screening of the short film “Thenmozhi” at Ganga Hospital. This short film was directed by Kumar Thangavel.
Kanagavalli Shanmuganathan, Chairman and Managing Director of Ganga Hospital, inaugurated the short film along with Dr. S Raja Sabapathy, Chairman of the Division of Plastic Surgery, Ganga Hospital and Rtn Sundaravadivelu, the District Governor of Rotary District 3201.
- Since its inception in 2015, Ganga Hospital’s skin bank has received 351 skin donations

Rtn Sundaravadivelu congratulated everyone involved in the film, and reminded everyone of the importance of raising skin donation awareness.
Dr. Raja Shanmuga Krishnan, Consultant Plastic Surgeon spoke about the importance of skin donation to treat burns patients. Skin and eye donations can be made within six hours of death. One needs to call Ganga Hospital within 6 hours after death. A team from Ganga Hospital would immediately come to the place of death and harvest skin for skin donation. This would take approximately 30 min to complete the procedure. There would be no disfigurement after the procedure. This was highlighted throughout the meeting.
Since its inception in 2015, Ganga Hospital’s skin bank has received 351 skin donations. The NGOs who were responsible for the skin donation were felicitated during the meeting. The skin from the skin bank has been used for 244 patients from 24 hospitals throughout the country. R. K. Kumar, Dr. Subramanian, Lata Arjunan, Rajesh Kumar, Ramesh Kumar, and Radhakrishnan, the Office bearers of the All India People’s Rights and Legal Awareness Association, attended the meeting.
