Thiruvananthapuram Division of Southern Railway on Friday announced the commencement of the newly constructed electrified double line between Valliyur and Aralvaymoli stations in Tirunelveli Junction – Nagercoil Junction section for train traffic. Trains will be operated at a maximum speed of 90 kmph in the 18.29 km stretch.

ARALVAYMOLI – VALLIYUR DOUBLE LINE COMMISSIONED

Abhay Kumar Rai Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Southern Circle, Bengaluru along with R Mukund, Divisional Railway Manager, Thiruvananthapuram Division, Prafulla Verma, Chief Executive Officer, Southern Railway Construction Organisation and Kamalakara Reddy, Principal Project Manager, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) have conducted the statutory inspections of the track, level crossings, bridges, stations and signalling and electrical installations on Thursday followed by a high-speed trial run from Aralvaymozhi to Valliyur with CRS Inspection Special Train at 18.15 hrs on Friday. The train reached Valliyoor at 18.30 hrs.
