In a spirited push toward greener and smarter rail travel, the Southern Railway organised the second phase of its “Go Green with Railways” awareness campaign to popularise the RailOne mobile application at Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station on Monday.

Renowned playback singer K. S. Harishankar graced the occasion as the chief guest and released a campaign flyer highlighting the features of the integrated railway services app. The event was attended by S. Sunil Kumar, Divisional Commercial Manager, A. Meenambal, Assistant Commercial Manager, and D. Manilal, Station Manager (Operating), along with railway staff and volunteers.

  • 3% digital discount offered to passengers using the RailOne app for unreserved and platform tickets

The awareness programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers from various colleges, who performed a flash mob and short street play showcasing the advantages of the RailOne app, attracting the attention of passengers at the bustling station.

Railway officials also interacted with travellers and explained how the app simplifies railway services while reducing paper usage and promoting digital transactions.

A Digital Gateway to Railway Services

The RailOne app, introduced by Indian Railways, is designed as a single integrated digital platform that brings together multiple passenger services in one interface.

Through the app, passengers can:

  • Book reserved, unreserved, platform and season tickets
  • Check real-time train location
  • Access platform and coach position details
  • Order food during travel
  • Register complaints or service requests through RailMadad
  • Seek assistance from the Railway Protection Force (RPF)

Officials said the platform significantly improves convenience for passengers while helping reduce queues at ticket counters and minimising paper ticket usage.

Special Green Incentive for Digital Users

To encourage passengers to adopt digital ticketing and support sustainable practices, Indian Railways is offering a 3% discount on unreserved and platform tickets booked through the RailOne app using digital payment methods.

The promotional discount will remain valid until July 14, 2026, officials said.

Awareness campaigns promoting the RailOne platform are now being organised every Monday at major stations in the Thiruvananthapuram Division, ensuring wider outreach among railway passengers.

What Officials Said

A senior railway official noted that the initiative is part of a broader effort to modernise passenger services.

“RailOne represents a major step toward seamless digital rail travel. By integrating multiple services into one platform, passengers can plan and manage their journeys more efficiently while supporting environmentally responsible travel.”

Another official added:

“Campaigns like ‘Go Green with Railways’ help passengers understand the convenience of digital ticketing while also reducing paper usage and queues at stations.”

Playback singer K. S. Harishankar praised the initiative and encouraged passengers to adopt the app.

“Technology can make travel easier and greener. RailOne is a great initiative that allows passengers to access multiple railway services with just one mobile application.”
