NEW DELHI, MARCH 17
Buoyed by India’s growing market for home appliances and its efforts to continue ‘Make in India’; Europe’s leading consumer electronics brand THOMSON now makes its foray in the air conditioner market this summer. With the launch of its four models in the Cool Pro Max series; THOMSON ACs will be available in fixed-speed and inverter segments, with the capacity of 1 ton and 1.5-ton each, says a senior official of the company.
Available on Flipkart, starting 22nd March, 2022, THOMSON Air conditioners will be up for grabs at an introductory offer prices starting INR 26490 only.
Elated about the brand’s extension in an all new category, Avneet Singh Marwah, CEO, Super Platsronics Pvt. Ltds. (SPPL) and India Brand Licensee of THOMSON, says , “As promised we are adding another new category this year. We are very eager about this launch and introducing THOMSON’s air conditioners to the Indian market with our strategic partner Flipkart. In 5 years THOMSON will be investing Rs 500 cr in home appliances alone and by the end of 3 years we plan to achieve 10% of the online AC market.”
“We are very aggressively looking at India’s home appliance segment as this is one of the fastest-growing industries. Globally an average penetration of air conditioner segment is 30% as compared to India’s at a meagre 4%. This gives us a huge pitch of opportunity to play at. Further India’s emerging economy and changing lifestyles of the consumers, has led to the growth of working people, nuclear families, single-person households, and the migrating working class population. Most significantly the government’s ongoing initiatives towards rural electrification and digitization have all worked as collaborative factors for us to make this well-timed move. “, he added.
The Indian manufacturing sector is expected to grow by 30% this year; THOMSON plans to achieve this indigenisation in view of the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme by the government for air-conditioners, which has encouraged it to invest and create a reliable component ecosystem. Indian consumers’ rising income, improved standard of living and its expectancy to become the world’s third largest energy consumer by 2030 are all attributing and converging marketer’s efforts to up their game. The country is also witnessing soaring temperatures and heat records, during the summer season over the last decade, all this has presented a huge opportunity for global brands to enter this segment.
