With the twin objectives of wooing the youth to wear trendy dresses made of eco-friendly and sustainable materials, including Khadi, and support the rural artisans to preserve their art of handcrafting, Thailand trained jewellery-cum-graphic artist-turned fashion designer Niki Doshi and Manish Doshi, have introduced specially designed range of dresses that will become the center of attraction among the youth.
Speaking with navjeevanexpress.com, Manish Doshi, co-founder of Thread Game, said, “Weaving artists living in different rural areas of Gujarat like Kutch and Gondal make out a living by making clothes sourced from the fibers from banana peel, bamboo, orange and soya and milk protein etc. They also use natural colours extracted from vegetables which are non-pollutants and eco-friendly. Hence these clothes never smell of sweat and always give you give a refreshing feeling.”
When asked about the price range, he said, “Khadi dresses are available in the range of Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 and that of plant-based fibre dresses are priced between Rs 9,000 and Rs 13,000.”
Talking about this designer Niki Doshi said, “Currently, we have started clothing range for women only. We are reaching to women through different media and women are interested in wearing these type of clothes. We are also launching clothing range for men and children. We not only make outfits but also footwear, handbag and accessories for women. Our products are also available online and we offer 10 percent discount to first-timers.
