CHENNAI, OCT 4

The next leg of Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai’s ‘En Mann En Makkal’ padayatra, which was scheduled to begin on October 6, has been postponed to October 16 due to his ill health.

“The foot march was slated to start on October 6 but is now being postponed to October 16,” the party’s state unit said on its official X handle, adding that he had been advised by doctors.

A medical bulletin shared by his party showed that Annamalai was diagnosed with a lower respiratory tract infection with bronchospasm (asthma).

He has been advised bed rest for a period of two weeks by the doctors.

Annamalai had gone to the hospital on Tuesday with complaints of cough, breathing difficulty, throat pain, body ache and fatigue, it said.

However, according to the party, the meeting convened by Annamalai of district presidents and other party office bearers will take place tomorrow as scheduled in Chennai.

The meeting assumes significance as it comes after Annamalai’s Delhi trip during which the issue of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK)-BJP alliance was discussed.
