The Tamil Nadu government led by CM Stalin on Saturday announced 10 percent Deepavali bonus to the tune of Rs 216.38 crore to the PSU employees in the State.
Chief Minister M K Stalin said the move will benefit 2,87,250 workers of Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ category.
The Chief Minister has lauded employees of the public sector units for their hard work and dedication to boost the economic growth of the State.

The statement said income of Tamilnadu Electricity board, TN State Transport Corporation, TN Civil Supplies Corporation and several others were affected due to the Covid-19 induced lockdown. The government has stated that it paid full salary to the workers during the lockdown in spite of the dip in the economy.
A bonus of 8.33 per cent and ex gratia of 1.67 cent (total 10 percent) will be given to the Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ category workers and employees for Deepavali, it added.
As per the amendments to the Payment of Bonus Act, those drawing Rs 21,000 a month or less are eligible for the bonus, and the monthly bonus calculation ceiling is R 7,000. Bonus and ex gratia will be given to the eligible permanent workers by the government.
People’s chief minister travels by bus
Meanwhile, Stalin, who inspected a Covid vaccination camp in the city, boarded a government bus and inspected it all of a sudden. The passengers took photos with the CM with excitement.
The driver, conductor and passengers were pleasantly surprised to see the Chief Minister boarding their bus. He heard complaints from all the passengers on the bus, especially women passengers.
Stalin specifically asked female passengers how they felt about the free bus travel plan for women, implemented in Tamil Nadu earlier this year. He also inquired about whether additional facilities were required onboard the buses.
