A Rs 33 crore lighting project that will add shine to the flyovers in Chennai was inaugurated on Friday by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.

The dynamic lighting scheme would add a new glow to flyovers and subways at 37 places with a variety of colours, which are set to change seamlessly and also display a mix of impressive designs.
Marking the project launch at the Secretariat in the Fort St George premises, Palaniswami turned on the lighting system at the iconic Napier Bridge close to the Marina beach front and the busy Dr Radhakrishnan Salai flyover in the heart of the city.
Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, Municipal Administration Minister S P Velumani, Chief Secretary K Shanmugam were present.
CM lays foundation stone for new buildings for medical college
Chief Minister K Palaniswami on Friday laid the foundation stone for construction of new buildings on the Coimbatore Medical College premises here.
The new buildings will accommodate 100 additional medical students and other necessary infrastructure needed for the college, official sources said.
The ceremony was held through video conference and district collector K Rajamani, medical college dean, Dr P Kalidasu and senior health department officials were present.
The Rs 80 crore project will include a four-storey building, which will have examination, lecture and demonstration halls, they said.
There will be two four-storey buildings for boys and girls hostels and another block will be for administration department and library and the construction is expected to be completed in about six months.
